Here is the URL https://www.voki.com

Introduction

Based on the avatars, there are a lot of things you can do at Voki.com, including assigning homework to your students, inserting your character into slides, creating an avatar to teach in your classroom and so on. Just enter the website and create an avatar. Use your imagination to make your classroom more interesting.

Let me give you an example. I made two avatars to describe their appearance. You can find many different avatars in Voki.com and make full use of them to teach your students how to describe a person's appearance.

Language learning approach

The most useful function of this tool is to give you greater diversity and choice in education. Comparing presenting the teaching material in conventional way, students are willing to learn and focus on something new and creative. You can use these avatars to create some activities on the basis of Task-based Language Teaching (TBLT) approach. Combining your task with avatar and encouraging students to learn language by using avatar can help them be interested in language learning process.

Limitations

It must be pointed out that some of the functions are only available with a paid subcription. Also, teachers need to figure out how to properly stimulate student's motivation with this game instead of just having fun.

I do hope you can find something helpful in Voki.com. Looking forward to hear more ideas.

  1. Hi, LU. I really like your beginning. You know what teachers want! And you have added your Voki products into this blog. I am also very comfortable with the length of this blog. It's not long and I could spend couple of minutes to master a digital tool for teaching!
